Scottsdale Culinary Festival
Next year join us for this week-long extravaganza of Epicurean dinners and fun events.

The festival is your chance to sample a wide variety of dishes prepared by more than 100 of the best restaurants, resorts and caterers in the Valley of the Sun.

Culinary Student Competition Awards Dinner
Held Wednesday, April 12, 2000 - 6:30 PM
Location:  The Hyatt Regency Resort
7500 E. Doubletree Ranch Road, Scottsdale
Cocktail attire
$55 per guest
This four-course dinner featured the first place award-winning entrée of the National Culinary Student Competition and Robert Mondavi wines paired with each course.

Culinary Hall of Fame Awards Dinner

Held Thursday, April 13, 2000 - 7PM
Location: Marquesa at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort
7575 E. Princess Dr., Scottsdale

$85 per person
 
This spectacular awards dinner took place in the Marquesa at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort. Three culinary professionals were chosen by their peers on the basis of five criteria.

Mayors' Culinary Cup Competition
Held Friday, April 14, 2000 - 7PM
Location: Scottsdale Center for the Arts
     7380 E. 2nd Street, Scottsdale
$50 per person
Cocktail attire
 
Guests sipped wine, sampled gourmet appetizers, and enjoyed an evening of fun, food and dancing.
 
A feast featuring mayors and their selected chefs from around Arizona all competed for these coveted awards.

The great Arizona Picnic was an exciting weekend of food sampling from some of the finest restaurants in the Valley.
 
The picnic featured continuous musical entertainment and Saturday night "Concert Under the Stars". A family event for a weekend of fun.

Southwest Festival of Beers

Location:  Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza
     2nd St. and Civic Center Blvd., Scottsdale

A spectacular Beer Garden featured more than 200 specialty beers and "Cooking with Beer" demonstrations. The day was filled with food, fun and musical entertainment!

Le Tour Culinaire
Sponsored by: Wells Fargo Bank
Held Saturday, April 15, 2000 - 5:30 PM
Location: The Ranch on Camelback Mountain,
5700 E. McDonald, Paradise Valley
$150 per person - Black tie
 
This evening featured a trolley tour of the Valley's finest dining establishments. Each course was paired with a wine and the winemaker traveled with guests on the trolley.  A fantastic dessert finale completed this elegant evening!

Wine Country Brunch
Held Sunday, April 16, 2000 - 12-2PM
Location: Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort
              7575 E. Princess Dr., Scottsdale
$45 per person
Resort attire
 
This brunch highlighted eight wineries paired with food prepared to perfection. Guests had the unique opportunity to meet winemakers and experience award winning food and wine combinations.
 
Guests took a gourmet trip through the wine country at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort. This event is sold out every year, so make your reservations early for next year!

Challenge to the Chefs

Held Sunday, April 16, 2000 - 5PM
Location:  Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza
        2nd St. and Civic Center Blvd.,         Scottsdale
Free Admission
 
Part of the Great Arizona Picnic, this event featured four Valley chefs, each presented with identical baskets of ingredients. Each devised a menu and cooked it using the ingredients.
 
This year's event award went to:

Best of the Fest
Sponsored by: Food & Lifestyles Magazine / Taste of Phoenix
Held Sunday, April 16, 2000 - 6:30 PM
Location: The Hyatt Regency Resort,
7500 E. Doubletree Ranch Road, Scottsdale
$125 per guest

The Festival Finale featured eight prominent Valley chefs each creating a five-course dinner for their two tables of ten. Each course was paired with quality wines.
