National
Celebrity Cookbook Authors launch
25th Scottsdale Culinary Festival
Scottsdale, AZ --
(April 1, 2003) - At the delicious debut of the 25th Annual Scottsdale
Culinary Festival, guests had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet
11 of their favorite nationally known cookbook authors.
The romantic Baroque décor and flowering garden patio of the
Marquesa Restaurant at the Fairmont Princess Resort was the perfect
venue for "Evening with the Authors," which took place
Tuesday, March 11th.
Best-selling authors gathered to serve up some of their scrumptious
recipes from their celebrated cookbooks and to meet and sign autographs
for some of their biggest Valley fans.
Guests indulged on creations featured in chefs-cum-authors' cookbooks
from across the nation prepared exclusively by Executive Chef Reed Groban.
The palate pleasing began with delicious Sonoran Sangria by Grady Spears
(Cowboy Cocktails) and continued through magical courses spanning salad,
seafood, beef, poultry, pork, pasta, pizza and to-die-for desserts.
With recipes to relish like Clams with Chipotle-Cachucha Mojo and Bacon,
by Douglas Rodriguez (Douglas Rodriguez's Latin Flavors
on The Grill), Pork Tenderloin, Scaloppini, Citrus-Balsamic
Sauce, by Ethan Becker (Joy of Cooking), Barbecued
Quail Baked in Cornmeal Custard with Green Pea Guacamole, by Robert
McGrath (American Western Cooking), Pasta with Radicchio,
White Beans and Rosemary, by Deborah Madison (Local Flavors),
Potato, Fontina Cheese and Fresh Sage Pizza, by Jeremiah Tower (Jeremiah
Tower Cooks) taste buds were popping.
This was one celebration where everyone seemed to have room for dessert.
With two decadent cakes by Nick Malgeri (Perfect Cakes)
and two ingenious creations by Letty Flatt (Chocolate Snowball),
who could resist?
