Two-Day
Toast to 25 Years of Culinary History:
Great Arizona Picnic and Southwest Festival of Beers
April 12th -13th
(Scottsdale, AZ)
- April 2003 - The Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza transformed into a
feasting grounds on Saturday, April 12th and Sunday, April 13th for
the Festival's most largely attended event.
The Great Arizona Picnic, featuring an old favorite - the Absolut Tent
and newest high energy addition - the Margarita Tent, and the Southwest
Festival of Beers united in what can only be described as the most spectacularly
catered picnic. The sunshine-filled afternoons drew foodies, families,
and fun-loving crowds eager to sample creations by the Valley's finest
chefs and restaurateurs.
Continuous live entertainment kept the crowd grooving - from Casino
Arizona's Showstoppers and Saturday night's "Concert Under the
Stars" - it was the ideal date, a carefree culinary adventure,
and the perfect family outing at the same time.
It was hard to tell who was happier the children sampling ice cream
from Auntie Em's Frozen Custard to Ruby's Diner Burgers or beer aficionados
clutching their souvenir mugs after a sample of a fresh brew.
Just some of the restaurants showcasing culinary delights include: Drift
Polynesian Restaurant & Lounge, Judges Choice Award; Roy's Hawaiian
Fusion, winner Best of Picnic award; Macayos winner for Best Dessert;
as well as Chipotle Mexican Grill; Melting Pot; Nick & Tony's; the
Bamboo Club. Great Arizona Bread Company, Café Portobello, Voo
Doo Daddy's Magic Kitchen and Cookies in Bloom.
