Culinary Awards Ceremony of Oscar Caliber
Culinary Ambassadors Are Chosen to Enter Hall of Fame

Scottsdale, AZ (February 2004) - The Arizona Culinary "Hall of Fame" Awards may not include the traditional red carpet, but in the world of haute cuisine they are the highest honors that local, national and international culinary extraordinaires can achieve.

On Thursday, April 15, the Marquesa at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess plays host to the Arizona Culinary "Hall of Fame" induction ceremony. Unlike the Oscar Awards Ceremony, no "Best Actor" awards will be bestowed here, as these culinary masters are the real deal.

The Hall Of Fame awards were created specifically to recognize forces in Arizona's culinary world for their dedication and contributions in the realm of culinary arts, media, promotion and children's arts education. The four categories and this year's winners include:

  • Silvana Salcido Esparza, Culinary Chef Extraordinaire - outstanding chef who has contributed substantial hours to charity.

  • Eileen Bailey, Culinary Media Master - a food writer or someone involved in culinary programs that receive media exposure.

  • Karen Chalmers, Culinary Ambassador - promotes and builds the culinary arts locally and throughout Arizona.

  • Don Luria, Lifetime Achievement - near career end and has given to children's education of the fine arts.

Enjoy the unique blend of Mediterranean Riviera cuisine at the Marquesa with a four-course dinner to be prepared by Chef Jorge Gallardo and his staff as they blend flavors, spices, ingredients and textures reminiscent of the Gold Coast of Spain, France and Italy.

"It is our privilege to honor these talented individuals who have led our local culinary community to a whole new level," says Hall of Fame Chair, Larry Weinstein.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Marquesa at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at www.ScottsdaleCulinaryFestival.org or by calling (480) 945-7193.
