"Contest
Draws National Artists for 25th Anniversary of the Scottsdale Culinary
Festival"
(Scottsdale, AZ)
- January 23, 2003 - The Scottsdale League for the Arts recently conducted
a nationwide search for original artwork to celebrate the 25th Anniversary
of the Scottsdale Culinary Festival.
The League wanted
something to represent the Festival in various collateral such as the
poster, web site, brochure and advertising image. The piece had to serve
as dining room or kitchen art and embody the celebration surrounding
the nation's longest running culinary arts festival.
-
The
winning piece, a digitally generated piece by Sandy Appleoff
of Falls City, Nebraska, was chosen from over 40 submissions.
The
board collectively
chose Appleoff's contemporary piece reflecting culinary
interests, for it's inspired color scheme and clean design
as it represents a modern departure from years past.
Appleoff
is a distinguished artist, having served on the faculty
of the Kansas City Art Institute, the University of Kansas,
and Colorado Mountain College.
Her other work can be found at http://www.ravenhill.net.
