Executive Chef, Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa
Executive Chef Michael O’Dowd is truly a culinary genius. He has been the driving force of developing the culinary concepts for the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa including Kai and Ko’Sin as well as overseeing all banquet operations. His breadth of experience includes positions at five-star, five-diamond resorts and his culinary talents have been acknowledged with kudos from both celebrities and culinary notables. Jackie Onassis frequented The Stanhope for his scones; Travolta, Jagger and Bono sought him out at The Ritz-Carlton, New York; and Sharon Stone bestowed a kiss of appreciation at the St. James Hotel in West Hollywood. Chefs of America named him to their "Top 2000 Best Chefs in USA" list; The Today Show invited him to be their guest chef and he was also asked to be in the opening of The David Letterman Show. On the restaurant side Chef O'Dowd has lent his expertise to Aureole, Bouley, Gotham Bar & Grill & Le Cirque.
However, none of these impressive accolades top what Chef O’Dowd has been able to accomplish at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass. He has coined his own unique cuisine “Native American with Global Accents” and WOWs guests from around the world with his one-of-a-kind menu creations combining ancient Native traditions with European Culinary Techniques. Under his direction, Kai was recently named Arizona’s newest AAA Five Diamond Restaurant. He has an untamed passion for perfection and strives for unique plate presentations emphasizing height, color, texture, freshness and, of course, taste. His background also includes fine wines and spirits as he grew up in the vineyards while his dad was the top Executive for Seagram's.
Chef O'Dowd studied business management at the University of Florida, audited classes at the Culinary Institute of America and Greystone and has worked with Michelin chefs Gunter Seegar, Boris Keller and Pierre Orsi. When he breaks away from the kitchen he pursues other passions such as spending time with his family, fly-fishing, collecting swords and golf.
